How It's Made?
Our zellige tiles effortlessly blend tradition with modernity, embodying timeless elegance and contemporary style. Expertly crafted by skilled artisans with generations of experience, these tiles are made using authentic raw materials, ensuring exceptional quality and everlasting allure.
In the enchanting land of Morocco, our craftsmen begin the creation process by extracting raw clay from local hillsides. This clay is meticulously cleansed and purified through a meticulous water-soaking and filtering process. Once purified, the clay transforms into a pliable substance, ready to be shaped into a multitude of forms using various molds. These individual pieces are then carefully arranged side by side and left to dry under the radiant Moroccan sun. Skilled hands flatten and shape the zellige tiles, allowing them to dry further and solidify their structure.
The next step involves the art of glazing, where each zellige tile is immersed by hand in a delicate glaze. Following this, the tiles are meticulously positioned in an earthen kiln, where the firing process takes place. Inside the kiln, heat disperses unevenly, resulting in the captivating variations that adorn the zellige tiles, enhancing their inherent beauty.
Each zellige tile is a testament to the artisan's dedication and artistry on that particular day, possessing an exquisite charm derived from its beautifully imperfect and one-of-a-kind nature.
